The coconut palm is a member of the Arecaceae family, growing mainly in tropical regions such as Southeast Asia. Coconut production has been growing rapidly in recent years. It is mainly used for food in various forms (pulp, water, oil, etc.). It is also increasingly used in cosmetics.

II- Properties Coconut oil has a high lauric acid content, a saturated fatty acid with a strong affinity for skin and hair. It reduces transepidermal water loss by restoring the skin's hydrolipidic film. It is therefore highly moisturizing, protecting, softening and deeply nourishing the skin. This oil nourishes, smoothes and protects the hair fiber, leaving hair shiny, strong and silky.

It is used extensively in saponification, giving soap its washing and foaming properties. This oil also texturizes body butters and makes them melt-in-the-mouth. Its very pleasant fragrance is an asset in formulations.
